A long lunch for a fortieth
Sixteen friends, a five-course set menu, and an afternoon that ran well past coffee. The kind of birthday nobody wants to bring to a close.
Private Hire
Some gatherings want a door that closes. The back room at The Copper Larder seats up to twenty around one long table — a quiet, candlelit corner of Lewes for the occasions that deserve a room of their own, with the same weekly-changing menu and natural wine as the rest of the house.
No rigid packages, no per-head extras tacked on. We keep private hire as unfussy as the cooking — a set menu agreed in advance, wine chosen with you, and the room yours for the evening.
The back room, seated around one long table, or up to twenty-five for a standing supper with canapés.
A short set menu drawn from that week's produce — agreed with you beforehand, cooked to the same standard as any night of service.
Natural wine matched to the menu, or a pairing flight if you'd like the cellar to lead. Soft drinks and cider for those off the wine.
Lunch or dinner, most days of the week. Tell us your date and we'll let you know what's possible.
The back room suits the milestones that want warmth over grandeur. A few of the evenings we've been glad to host.

Both families meeting over one table the evening before the day. Relaxed, candlelit, and a gentler start than a big reception.
A studio of twelve, the room to themselves, natural wine and no slides. The most popular sort of staff do we host.
A family wanting somewhere kind and unhurried to sit together afterwards. We hold those evenings with particular care.
A few details to begin with and we'll come back to you with what's possible — dates, the shape of a menu, and a sense of cost. No obligation, just a starting point.
